Waste is a "playable anti-record" concept album built around the randomness of tape manipulation techniques. A cassette was dubbed with a side from each artist, and then destroyed and manipulated in several ways - the tape was crumpled up, twisted, spliced (very crudely), rubbed against itself, scratched, cut up - adding additional lo-fi distortion to the tracks, and creating unpredictable sound artifacts resulting in collage of both sides bleeding into each other. The crumpled up tape twists to flip sides at random times, the off-center splice creates a subtle tape delay effect, the damaged ferric layer adds surface noise and drop out to the sound, some copies even run in reverse - the randomness and unpredictability of the changes to the tracks and the resulting collage are the main focus of this piece. Each cassette went thru this process individually, and as such each copy is its own piece of art that sounds and runs differently.

The digital release was ripped from cassette #3, and only went thru slight volume adjustments where the off center tape created volume drop out.

All of the tapes played back fine, however, since many tape players may have different "pull" to the tape, please be aware that you may not be able to play your copy back on every cassette player. In other words, do not play this on your expensive hi-fi!
